SisterNet Online is our own community website where local African-American women find significant health information resources to nurture a healthy lifestyle. In this online environment, our efforts are directed towards using the Internet to come together as a community to achieve positive health outcomes in our everyday lives.


What Can I Find Here?

  • About Us
    This section contains general information about SisterNet and its current initiatives to build social and digital networks of African American women committed to nurturing healthy lifestyles and community activism. You will also find statements about participant profiles of SisterNet members and information about SisterNet's organizational management.


  • Calendar
    Find information about the latest current events and activities on health, education, and technology taking place in and around the twin-cities of Urbana-Champaign. You can search events to locate information about a particular event you may be hoping to attend or add an event that you want others to participate in.


  • Discussion Groups
    Join SisterNet's online discussion groups on SisterNet activities, physical health, emotional health, spiritual health, and intellectual health. Here you can also find a list of other discussion groups on the web or join SisterNet's mailing list to get information via e-mail on latest SisterNet news and activities.


  • Our Health
    This website provides you with lots of online health information that may address some of your health-related questions and concerns. You can look at health profiles created for and by SisterNet women just like you. You can also find a list of websites on local health resources as well as general health information and health services. Additionally, you can make an online visit to available health resources specially recommended by SisterNet women. If you want to improve your knowledge on computers and the Internet, there are a bunch of great technology websites that you may want to know about.

    Join SisterNet's Inquiry Pages! Become a member of our growing community of local African-American women, health and information professionals, educators and students - in fact anyone who is using - or who wants to learn how to use - inquiry-based learning and problem-solving to create significant health solutions and share information with others. The Inquiry Page is our way of harnessing the Internet to create community. Inquiry units are websites created by local Black women and others to find information and answers to their health-related questions. On this website, you can register as a new Inquiry Member or log in as an existing Inquiry Member to search and create your own inquiry units on health issues.
