Background Information: There are two kinds of discussion groups on the Internet. The first kind are commonly known as newsgroups or discussion forums where users go to a particular website to post messages or read what others have posted about specific topics of interest. The second kind of discussion groups are called electronic mailing lists where users sign up to join an electronic mailing list by giving their e-mail addresses and they can post and receive electronic mail at their e-mail accounts. A user posts a message on a particular topic to an electronic mailing list address and that message is sent to all users who are members of that electronic mailing list.
